Pauline and Fintan invite you to enjoy their special country garden of some 2 acres. This is a recently re-established garden which is constantly evolving. The aim has been to create a space with different interests following throughout the year.
Spring
The year starts with carpets of snowdrops, crocus, narcissi, hellebores and bluebelles. These are followed by beautiful apple and cherry blossoms on the espaliered pear trees on the house walls.
In late May the impressive rhododendrons come into bloom.
Summer
In early summer the informal mixed borders nearer the house come alive. Permanent shrubs such as hybrid musk and other roses, philadelphus and mallows mix freely with herbaceous flowers, ground cover
plants and bulbs, supplemented by tender plants in summer.
Our newly constructed pergola planted with climbers such as Madame Alfred Carriere, Albertine, New Dawn, Compassion and Bantry Bay, and underplanted on both sides by rose beds containing Scented Mist, Margaret Merrill, Queen Elizabeth, Romance, Silver Jubilee among many others, leads to the walk through borders and the woodland area.
Autumn
The secluded woodland area contains some fine old trees, mainly Copper Beech, Maple and Weeping Ash provide display throughout autumn with their changing colours. A newly planted area on the boundaries will
provide interest in years to come.
